When Asmaa abou mohsn decided to entire university, people advised her to choose English language field as it's the most fortunate field in the labour market but no one mentioned that in Gaza, unfortunately there's a lack of job opportunities where the unemployment rates among students aged (20-29 years) were enrolled, whether for intermediate diploma or a bachelor’s degree (BA) reached 69,2% according to the latest statistics issued by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS).

It has been nearly 6 years since she graduated from university, she did not stop pursuing jobs and taking exams in order to work in the educational sector. Unfortunately, she did not get any opportunity, even interim contract. She is a mother of two children, Moreover, she's suffering from unstable-income.

She added to "last story": I wasn't looking for jobs due to bad economic conditions only, however, I'm always willing to gain experiences and communicate with other people" when all the doors closed on her face, she created an online store for kids clothing.

Returning back to Mohsen’s story, she believes that setting up an online store project is not as easy as they expect that It was in constant contact with her relatives in Turkey, "This project took her nearly five months of research and attempts to understand the nature of the local market and the quality of products that meet his needs, until it became a reality.  

About the obstacles she faces, she said that regarding the political and safety situation in Gaza due to frequent closures of the border crossings which cause a delay in their customers order deliverables that affects customer satisfaction and lead to various kinds of loss.  

Moreover, Ms. Mohsen lost her home during the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip last May, "2021 which was the worst year ever, as the goods remained in my house, and I lost them in the destruction.

No one encouraged her even people around considered her work in the business field as a risk or challenging, she smiled and said" Honestly, sometimes it's an adventure yet I'm happy and it helped me to be more confident especially when I found that my work can help my family especially after we moved to a rental house due to losing their home in the latest aggression.  

The unemployment rate in the Gaza Strip has approached 50%, while the unemployment rate among women participating in the labor force has reached 43%, compared to 22% among men by the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics issued in March 2022. 

Nour Mohamad, another lady decided to start her online shop and have received the same family disagreement that considered turning her talent in engraving on glass and drawing on porcelain dishes and cups into a profession is a waste of time and useless. However, she refused to give up and now she is working in this domain for nearly 8 years away from the unemployment line. 

Nour, 32 years old who graduated with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology. After graduation she continued improve her skills in this field by joining different trainings besides voluntary work. In addition, she gets the license to practice the work as a professional and added sadly" despite the value and importance of my major, governmental ministries have passed me between them from Ministry of Health to ministry of supply, they considered this department that it doesn't have a wide work field in Gaza," I was tired of waiting and wanted to participate in improving the economic situation of my family, as my children are growing, their needs also increase.

In this situation, she found herself with no choice except one which is create an online shop to sell her handmade products. In fact, she has already made a page on Instagram application and published photos of her work then her work transferred from free gifts to friends into a product with income from customers.

It is true that the financial income is not great even though she is satisfied, as it provides financial independence on the personal level then has obtained support from local association that deals with small projects, which enabled her to spend on and buy the necessary tools and marketing them more widely.
